Family Fest to feature music, rides, food

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">SULPHUR — Our Lady of Prompt Succor’s Family Fest begins Friday at 6 p.m. and continues until Sunday at 5 p.m. There will be entertainment, carnival rides, and food booths.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Friday’s entertainment includes country musicians Cody Forrest at 6:15 p.m. and Brad Broussard at 7:30 p.m.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">There will be a silent auction Friday and Saturday with a variety of items. The Catholic Daughters will have a bake sale throughout the festival. There will be a variety of cake walks during the festival. T-shirts will be on sale for $20.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Featured foods are fried fish, crawfish etouffee, jambalaya, gumbo, funnel cakes, lemonad</span><span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">e, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and boudin. All food will be cooked on sight.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Starting early Saturday morning, there will be a jambalaya cookoff. A crowd favorite will be selected and samples will be available. There will be a talent show at 10 a.m. and the carnival rides start at that time. Bingo will be going on in the hall. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">The talent for Saturday will be the Cajun band The Lakeview Playboys from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. At 2:15, Sulphur Dance Academy will perform. Starting at 3 p.m. will b</span><span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">e another Cajun band, The Crowley Playboys. At 5 p.m., there will be a Mass in the courtyard. The carnival will resume after Mas</span><span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">s. Reed Planchard and Driving Dixie will be the featured performers at 7 p.m.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Sunday, the carnival kicks off after noon Mass. Entertainment starts at 1 p.m. with all-day bluegrass music and an acoustic jam session. “We’re inviting people who like to play their guitars to come out and “Pick in the Parking Lot”,” said Sheramie Moore, festival planner. The Sabine River Bend Band, Fiddlin’ Ron Yule, and Father Eddie Richard will perform.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">“Come out for clean, safe, family fun,” said Moore.</span>
