Cars for Quints free to public

Corinne, Tessa, Miles, Owen and Reese Plauche are the quintuplets, and the reason behind St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church’s car show, Cars for Quints, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at 1500 Country Club Road. The event is free for the public.
The quintuplets, now 18 months old, are starting to walk. Proceeds from the car show will go toward their education fund.
“My husband, Joe, restored a 1972 Dodge Charger, about a year and a half ago,” said Beth Bowers, the event coordinator. “We’ve been going to car shows ever since then. We’ve always been involved with missions in our church. I was talking to my husband and I told him, ‘You know, we should do a fundraiser for the quintuplets.’ We talked to our mission team, and it was a go.”
Bowers said 20 cars are already registered for the event, but she expects that 100 cars will be present at the event. She notes that most car shows have people register the day of the event. The car show is open for all vehicles including motorcycles and trucks.
Awards will be given to participants in the show at 2:30. 28 trophies will be awarded to all classes in the show, including a “people’s choice” trophy where spectators will be able to chose their favorite vehicle at the show..
The event will feature a bake sale as well as concessions. The church’s men’s group will be preparing chilli and Chick-Fil-A has donated chicken sandwiches for the event.
Bowers hopes to make this into a yearly event to continue giving to the children’s education fund.
“I’m real excited for the event,” said Bowers. “It’s been my husband and I’s passion, and now we’re able to serve not only the church, community and the family also.”
