A grand jury on Wednesday returned indictments against Rosepine’s police chief, including charges stemming from his arrest in August for felony stalking and malfeasance in office, and additional charges for sexual misconduct with an individual in the corrections department.
Law enforcement officers found guilty of sexual misconduct with an individual in custody can be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and be fined as much as $10,000.
State police said James Parrott stalked his estranged wife at her workplace and home and obtained license plate information on her male friend. He allegedly used Rosepine police resources to look up the license plate and personal information of her male friend.
State police said he used police computers to obtain information on the male friend and followed and photographed his estranged wife.
Parrott was arrested Aug. 6. He was re-elected without opposition that month.
