Tyrann Mathieu will not be on the field at Cowboy Stadium this fall. Or at any other football stadium.
New Orleans television station WVUE reported late Thursday night that Mathieu will remain in a drug rehab facility in Houston, where he has been since Monday. The station spoke with Mathieu's legal custodian, Tyrone Mathieu, who confirmed that Tyrann is working with former NBA player John Lucas to overcome his addiction.
Mathieu, a Heisman Trophy finalist last year, was kicked off of LSU's team last Friday. He visited McNeese State later that night with an interest in transferring, but did not make a decision on his future until Thursday night.
The report states that Mathieu will sit out the football season, and will not attend classes at LSU this fall.
