The American Cancer Society will hold a Bark for Life fundraiser 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

The event will include a pet/owner lookalike contest, a pet talent show, and a pet fashion show. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Entry fee is $20 per dog.

“While there are Relay for Life events in many communities in Southwest Louisiana, this will be the first time our volunteers have hosted an event specifically for our canine friends,” said Katie McCarty, area director for the cancer society.

“Along with the general public, we encourage our local veterinary clinics, groomers, rescuers and canine friends to participate.”

Businesses and organizations may set up a tent or booth for food, products or games and activities that promote a carnival-like atmosphere. The fee is $50 for a tent space. Additional sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are available.
