Chad and Jeremy Snider have been involved with the building industry since they were teens.
That’s when they worked for their mom and dad, Sally and James Snider of Wrangler Construction. “We made $6 an hour,” Jeremy remembers. That was pretty good, the brothers agree. Minimum wage was $4.25.
“When we say, we’ve done it all; we mean we’ve done it all,” Chad said. "I’ve put down tile, built decks, you name it.”
The Snider brothers started building townhomes in 2006 and took the plunge this year and got their general contractors license.
Jeremy, age 30 and Chad, age 32, are the “J” and “C” behind JC Snider Construction and Development of Lake Charles.
Currently they’re involved in the development of Maison DeVille on 5017 South Prien. These townhome duplexes make their fourth project in the Lake Area.
Available in two and three bedroom models, the square footage ranges from about 1,250 – 1,450 square feet, and feature an open floor plan and attached carport, which makes the total square footage around 1,800.
Recently they just sold the final French Country style townhome in Providence in South Lake Charles.
So far, that’s how it’s going for the Sniders: They get one finished. Century 21 Mike Bono agent Tony Cornner sells it.
Sometimes units sell before they’re completed. Though Maison DeVille is clearly still a construction site, one of those units has sold.
“The South Lake Charles area makes it attractive and the location is tucked away, more private, which I think will attract buyers. Home buyers know when they see Jeremy and Chad’s houses they’re getting good quality for the price,” Cornner said. Homes are in the $145,000 - $165,000 price range.
“We like to get the details right and we’re concerned about finishes,” Chad said about features that set their work apart from the work of others.
The Maison DeVille townhomes will be constructed with 9-foot ceilings throughout. Hardy board siding, soffits and eaves characterize the exterior, along with a privacy fence and large covered parking.
Stainless appliances, ceramic tile, granite countertops, a Travertine backsplash, double-paneled arched top doors, oil-rubbed bronze hardware and Frieze carpet are some of the features of the JC Snider Construction and Development Company homes.
