After months of debate over developing an ordinance for an RV park in Westlake, City Council members unanimously approved one this week in a special meeting.

Council members killed the ordinance last week at the council’s monthly meeting when they locked in a 2-2 vote.

Councilwoman Lori Manuel presented the ordinance at that meeting on RV parks in city limits. Some council members said was too restrictive.

Councilmen John Cradure and Wally Anderson voted against it.

Manuel told the American Press that in Tuesday’s special meeting, the ordinance that was presented Nov. 5 — with minor revisions restricting FEMA trailers, landscaping requirements, and lot sizes — was passed by the three council members in attendance — Manuel, Anderson, and Bob Hardey.

Cradure, who wasn’t at the special meeting, said at the regular meeting that square footage per RV spot would required by the ordinance would restrict Mike Stine, who may buy former trailer park land that for the RV park project, from moving forward with his plans.

Manuel said statements made at the special meeting “by council members in opposition of the ordinance were inaccurate.”

Anderson also said following special meeting that if the ordinance passed, Stine “probably won’t be able to do business in (Westlake.)”

Manuel said with changes made council members believe “the owners will now proceed with their project.”
