A teenage girl trying to cross Interstate 210 with her friends was struck by a vehicle late Thursday afternoon, authorities
said.
The girl, believed to be 14, was crossing from a service road east of the La. 14 exit with her friends when she was hit by
an eastbound vehicle, Lake Charles Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said.
He said police were still investigating Thursday evening whether the girl was on a bicycle or on foot.
The girl was reportedly in serious condition in a local hospital.
Kraus said police were working to contact her family and were not yet releasing her name.
He said witnesses told police that “the driver of the vehicle did everything he could to avoid the crash.”
