BATON ROUGE — LSU RB Jermey Hill’s 184 yards on 25 carries were the most by an LSU back since Alley Broussard set the school record with 250 against Ole Miss in 2004.
l SIX STRAIGHT:
WR Jarvis Landry’s 32-yard TD reception on the first play of the fourth quarter gave him at least one TD catch in LSU’s last six games.
LSU’s 21-0 halftime lead was the first time the Tigers had shut out an opponent in the first half this season. AU did score on its first possession of the second half.
l WOUNDED TIGERS:
LB Lamin Barrow went down with an apparent knee injury late in the third quarter, but returned.
OG Trae Turner went down late in the first quarter and did not return but he tweeted during the game that he was OK. “We expect to have Turner back,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “He probably could have come back in in the back end (Saturday). DT Anthony Johnson had to be helped off the field in the game’s final 2 minutes.
l DEFENSIVE CHANGES:
True freshman Tre’Davious White started his second consecutive game at cornerback., while Danielle Hunter made his first start at DE and Micah Eugene started in place of Ronald Martin at safety.
l STREAK BROKEN:
RB Terrence Magee’s lost fumble at the AU 7-yard line late in the first quarter was the first lost by an LSU RB in 80 carries. It also marked the first time all season the Tigers came away with no points after getting into the red zone. Zach Mettenberger threw his first interception of the season on LSU’s first play of the second half.
l HONORED GUEST:
LSU honored the 1988 team on the 25th anniversary of its 1988 SEC championship. The Tigers shared the title with Auburn and it also marked the 25th anniversary of the famed earthquake game when LSU beat Auburn 7-6 on Tommy Hodson’s late TD pass to Eddie Fuller. Hodson, who this summer was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, was the honorary captain for the game.
l GOOD CALL:
LSU won the coin toss for the first time in four tries this season and deferred to the second half.
LSU captains were DT Ego Ferguson, FB Connor Neighbors, WR James Wright and FG holder Seth Fruge. Only Ferguson is a starter.
LSU leads the series with Auburn 27-20-1 and has won six of the last seven. Auburn hasn't won in Tiger Stadium since 1999.
