Seven arrested in drive-by shooting

By Special to the American Press

A Lake Charles home was hit multiple times during a drive-by shooting Monday, although the intended victim did not live at

the house, authorities said.

Seven people visited the home, in the 2400 block of 12th Street, on Monday looking for someone, Lake Charles police Lt. Kevin

Kirkum said.

Not believing that the person did not live there, the seven returned at about 8:45 p.m. and shot and threw rocks at the house,

he said.

When the person in the home heard “popping noises and unknown objects striking the house,” the person looked out the window

and saw the same vehicle that had been by earlier, Kirkum said.

An officer later stopped the vehicle, which held the seven, Kirkum said. Evidence was found supporting the victim’s complaint,

he said.

All seven were charged with assault by drive-by shooting, aggravated criminal property damage and illegal use of a weapon.

Judge Ron Ware set bond at $14,000 each.
