HAHNVILLE (AP) — The body of a 55-year-old Destrehan woman has been pulled from the Mississippi River after authorities say she jumped off the Hale Boggs Bridge in St. Charles Parish.

The sheriff’s office, in a news release Friday, said the office was called about 6:43 p.m. Thursday about a vehicle that stopped in the bridge’s emergency lane. The sheriff’s office said, according to the caller, the woman exited the car, ran to the railing, climbed over and jumped.

Authorities say the body of Debbie Ridley Johnson was recovered from the river near Ama with help from the Coast Guard.
