An 18-year-old Westlake man has been charged with four counts of simple burglary, two counts of theft and one count each of theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm and unauthorized use of an access card, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Ian O. Langley, 1301 Guillory St., was arrested on Friday after being stopped while driving a vehicle that was reported stolen the day before.
“On Oct. 4, deputies were dispatched to homes on Thelma Lane and Brown Road in Moss Bluff in reference to a stolen truck and reports that two vehicles were burglarized,” Myers said Tuesday in a news release. “The next day, the Westlake Police Department located the truck and reported it to the Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Unit.”
Myers said that when questioned by detectives, Langley confirmed he stole the truck and also burglarized the two unlocked vehicles, taking a debit card, some cash and a firearm. Langley allegedly used the debit card to make several purchases at local stores.
Judge Wilford Carter set Langley’s bond at $20,000.
Detective David Doucett was the lead investigator.
