WELSH — Two local men have been arrested in connection with the drive-by shooting of a Welsh residence, authorities said.
Samuel Anthony Guillory, 21, and
William Lynn “Trey” Joseph III, 21, were charged with two counts each of
attempted second-degree
murder and one count each of illegal use of weapons.
They are being held without bond in the Welsh jail, Police Chief Tommy Chaisson said.
The men were arrested by Welsh police without incident Wednesday morning, he said. One of the men was at work; the other was
found in a vehicle, Chaisson said.
The men, singled out through investigation by town police, fired several shots into a house in the 1200 block of West Welsh
Street around 9 p.m. Oct. 7, he said.
A mother and her 11-year-old daughter were asleep inside the house, but no one was injured. The father was outside. Several
bullets struck the home, including at least two that went through a front window, police said.
The homeowner, James Simon, 53, told police that the shooting occurred shortly after he had returned home from the store.
He said two cars were blocking the road as he was driving back home. He asked the occupants of the vehicles to move the cars
and words were exchanged.
As he got to his house, two vehicles came down the street, and shots were fired in his direction, he said.
He took cover behind his vehicle, parked near the front of the home, during the shooting.
Gun-related violence in Welsh has led to the shooting deaths of three men in less than a year and injuries to several others.
Most of the cases remain unsolved.
