HARVEY (AP) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says a 2-year-old child has been shot in the face.
According to the sheriff's office, the injury is not life-threatening, and the child is being treated at an area hospital.
Authorities say the child's father was putting the child in a car at about 4 p.m. Thursday when he and another man made eye contact. The sheriff's office says the man then began shooting.
A bullet hit the car door, ricocheted and hit the child in the face.
Further details were not immediately available.
The gunman, who was driving a black Nissan Sentra, remains at large.
