Sulphur to celebrate Christmas under Oaks this weekend

Sulphur’s annual Christmas under the Oaks Festival and Holiday House Celebration will be today-Saturday, Nov. 29-Dec. 1.

The celebration will begin today with a

preview party at the Henning Cultural Center and Brimstone Museum, at

900 South Huntington

St. Tickets are $35.

“This is one of our most exciting festivals in Sulphur and is filled with live music, good food, carnival rides and holiday

shops,” said Tom Trahan, museum director.

The event’s holiday house, with more than 50 local vendors, will open to the public for $5 per a person 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday.

The carnival — at Heritage Square, at 923 Ruth St. — will be open 4-10 p.m.

The Fantastics will perform at 6 p.m.; Damon Troy will do so at 8 p.m.

The celebrations on Saturday will begin at 8:30 and 9:45 a.m. with pancake breakfasts with Santa Claus. Tickets are $5 per

a child and can be purchased in advance by calling 527-0357.

The Sulphur Kiwanis Christmas Parade will be at 3 p.m., with a laser light show and ceremonial lighting of the town square

at 6 p.m.

The carnival will be open noon-10 p.m. Saturday. Louisiana Express will go on at 4 p.m.; Bag of Donuts will perform at 9 p.m.
