A Sulphur man already serving prison time for child pornography was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years for molesting a family
member.
Fourteenth Judicial District Court
Judge Wilford Carter sentenced Lester Hugh Golden, 32, to 20 years in
prison, to run concurrent
with the more than 17 years he is serving on the child pornography
charge.
Originally charged with five counts of aggravated rape and eight counts of aggravated incest, Golden pleaded to two counts
of aggravated incest.
Golden is not eligible for parole and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to Holly Carter,
district attorney spokeswoman.
“He has given her (the victim) a life sentence, so I’m asking you to give him the maximum,” prosecutor Shunette Thomas told
Carter.
Carter gave him 20-year sentences on both counts to run concurrent.
Carter said he had been troubled
whether to run the sentences concurrently, but did so because Golden was
helpful in the investigation
and showed remorse even though he believed some of that remorse
was “displaced.”
Thomas said the girl was 7 years old when Golden began molesting her; it continued for six years. Golden said it did not start
until she was “about 11.”
Golden also disputed some of the facts of the molestation that Thomas presented in court.
Golden was sentenced in federal court in July. Officials said he tried to join a child pornography website multiple times
and that his computer held 1,600 images and 75 videos of child pornography.
