A 29-year-old Sulphur man has been charged with stalking and a probation violation, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Joshua C. Gibson, 113 E. Mimosa Drive, was arrested Jan. 6 after he allegedly violated a stay-away order issued by Judge Ron Ware.

“On Jan. 4, Gibson pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a movable stemming from a September 2012 arrest in which an investigation revealed he had borrowed a vehicle from an elderly family member and failed to return it,” Myers said in a news release. “As part of his probation, Gibson was released and ordered to stay away from the elderly victim.

“On Jan. 6, detectives were dispatched after receiving a complaint from the victim advising she had received several phone calls from Gibson and he has also shown up to her home even after numerous requests not to do so.”

Gibson is being held without bond, Myers said.

Detective Mike Primeaux was the lead investigator on both cases.””
