Road rage leads to highway stabbing in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE (AP) — Lafayette police say a 42-year-old man was stabbed around 7 p.m. on Christmas after an altercation with another

driver.

Cpl. Paul Mouton told The Advertiser officers responded to the victim at the

intersection of Interstate

49 and Pont des Mouton Road.

Mouton says the victim was traveling on westbound I-10 when an older, white van drove aggressively toward his vehicle. The

two drivers exchanged "hand gestures" and then became involved in a physical confrontation.

Mouton said the victim was stabbed with a pocket knife in the torso and leg.

He says the second man climbed back into his vehicle and fled the area. The victim was driven to a local hospital with injuries

that weren't life-threatening.

Mouton says the incident remains under investigation.
