Recall organizers, both Calcasieu teachers, fined $500 each by ethics board

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Two Calcasieu Parish teachers who led failed recall efforts against Gov. Bobby Jindal and House Speaker

Chuck Kleckley have been fined $500 each for failing to file campaign finance reports on time.

Angie Bonvillian and Brenda Romero missed a deadline to file a report 45 days after the recall drives began. The reports were

filed 56 days late with the state's ethics administration office. They faced fines of up to $1,000 each.

The Board of Ethics cut the penalties in half Friday, as long as the public school teachers remain in compliance with ethics

laws.

Bonvillian and Romero said they didn't know of the reporting requirement.

Jason Doré, executive director of the state Republican Party, filed the complaint against the recall organizers when they

did not submit documents on time.
