No one hurt after car crashes into Mazen’s restaurant

Nobody was hurt when a vehicle crashed through a local restaurant Thursday, officials said.

According to Cpl. Larry Moss of Lake Charles Police, a 1996 Lincoln Towncar crashed into Mazen’s Continental Cuisine, 217 W. College St., around 5 p.m.

Officers said the driver, who was not ticketed in the accident, “unintentionally placed (the car) in drive” and crashed into the rear of the building, Moss said in a news release.

“In the driver’s haste to stop the vehicle, they inadvertently depressed the vehicle’s accelerator instead of the brake,” he said.

The vehicle crashed through the south wall and went about 40 feet inside before it stopped.

The crash was investigated by Cpl. William Loving.
