Chennault: No airshow in 2014

By By Lance Traweek / American Press

Chennault International Airport will not host an airshow in 2014, airport officials announced Monday.

Randy Robb, president of the airshow’s board of directors and Chennault executive director, said the nonprofit organization

will need additional time to gather resources and recruit committee members.

“Our goal is to bring more military

demonstrations and exciting jet team performances to our enthused

community, and we simply

need to grow our committee in order to produce the top-notch

aerial event that we are planning,” Robb said in a news release.

About 25,000 came through the gates over the two-day show in 2013.

The airshow generated an estimated $1.5 million

economic impact

for the community, he said.

“All this was done by a small

volunteer board and committee and some very generous sponsors," he said.

"We need to grow our resources and support to make sure the next

Chennault Airshow is an even bigger success. We are looking

beyond 2014.”
