FORT POLK (AP) — The Department of Defense is releasing more than $18 million to the Vernon Parish School Board for a school
that will serve military families at Fort Polk.
Sen. Mary Landrieu's office says the action
announced Tuesday will allow construction to begin on the $20 million
South Polk
Elementary School. The school will serve 800 students in first-
through fourth-grades. State and local governments are contributing
to $2 million to the cost.
