WELSH — An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect in connection with the robbery of a Welsh convenience store in September.

A simple robbery warrant was issued for 44-year-old Michael S. Bias, of New Orleans, according to Police Chief Tommy Chiasson.

The suspect may also be responsible for similar robberies in Jennings, Kinder and Sulphur area, he said.

''We believe he may be the same person connected with similar robberies at convenience stores in Jennings, Kinder and Sulphur and other towns,'' Chaisson said. ''We are working in conjunction with those police departments.''

Local police are also working with authorities in New Orleans to attempt to locate Bias, he said.

DNA obtained from evidence at the scene linked Bias to the Sept. 18 robbery of the Exxon station in Welsh in which an undetermined amount of money was taken from a cash register, Chaisson said.

Anyone that knows the whereabouts of Bias should contact the Welsh Police Department at 734-2626.
