Name of victim in Crowley shooting released

CROWLEY (AP) — Acadia Parish officials have released the name of a man who was shot and killed in Crowley during an argument Monday night.

The sheriff's office tells The Advocate 32-year-old Edgar Eugene Belveal was involved in a conversation with another man that grew to a disturbance then a shooting that left Belveal dead.

Detectives booked 50-year-old Henry Lawrence Leger into the Acadia Parish Jail on Monday night on one count of second-degree murder. Bond has been set at $250,000.

It was unclear whether Leger has an attorney.
