A 40-year-old Moss Bluff man has been charged with domestic abuse battery by strangulation and second-degree battery, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Charles R. Moore, 1067 Southern Meadows Lot #5, was arrested Wednesday.

“When deputies spoke with the victim, she said that she and Moore got into a verbal altercation on April 28,” Myers said in a news release. “The victim then said Moore struck her in the face and then wrapped a cord around her neck and began strangling her.”

Myers said doctors reported that the victim had a bruised eye and broken hand.

Judge Michael Canaday set Moore’s bond at $50,000.

Detective Jerry Childress was the lead investigator on the case.
