McNeese women get postseason play

The Baggett sisters will get to play at least one more game together.

The McNeese State’s women’s basketball team has accepted an invitation to the WBI (Women’s Basketball Invitational) tournament and will play at Mercer on Thursday in Macon, Georgia.

Game time has yet to be determined.

McNeese, led by twin guards Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett, will be making its third consecutive postseason appearance after back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances the last two seasons.

The Cowgirls have been eliminated in the first round each of those years.

The Cowgirls posted an 18-14 overall record and a 11-7 conference record. The Cowgirls fell to Oral Roberts in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament to the regular season and tournament champions.

Mercer posted a 20-11 overall record and finished the regular season in third place in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a 13-5 record. The Bears posted an 11-5 home record this past season.””
