The Henning Cultural Center, 923 Ruth St. in Sulphur, will present the works of local masters in its Artisan’s Gallery Masterworks Exhibit through Feb. 14.

“It’s a collection of over 10 artists from the Artisan’s Gallery society who all do shows together. The styles range from photography, sculpture, pencil drawings and acrylic and oil paintings,” said Thom Trahan, center director.

“Each artist sort of has a set medium that they typically work in that they’re known for and were able to bring a couple of pieces from their selected medium.”

The works on display will also be for sale, Trahan said. Local artists presenting their works are Charlene Kaough, Sue Zimmerman, Sally Cappel, Gloria Yang, Bobbi Yancey, Melinda Antoon Cormier, Ronald Gibson, Anita Ahrens, Geoff Russell, Donna Artigue Price, Beth Winslett Fontenot and Kathy Gardiner Hebert.

Trahan said the exhibit’s roster includes local art educators and that the gallery looks forward to displaying their work.

“These artists have been displayed in galleries all over south Louisiana and many have done shows in other areas as well,” he said. “We have them come back every couple of years, which gives them a chance to build up their collection and have new things to show and sell.”””
