Prep Football Preview: Fresh start for Leesville Wampus Cats

LEESVILLE— Leesville is looking to reload and recover after a 1-9 season.

Coach Tommy Moore, who has been at Leesville for two years, has taken the helm as the Wampus Cats’ new head coach and will

need to develop Leesville’s young roster to improve on last year’s record.

Luckily for Moore, he has a relatively experienced offensive line and quarterback. The Wampus Cats return three offensive

linemen, two of whom are seniors, and their starting quarterback from last year, junior Kory Jones.

Jones completed 75 passes on 223 attempts and connected with returning offensive threat and fellow junior Matthew Hoecker

on 21 of those completions.

Leesville’s defensive returners are also concentrated on the line of scrimmage, where the Wampus Cats will have two defensive

ends and a defensive tackle back from last season. Each of those returning linemen is a senior.

The secondary will be a question mark for Leesville, as it doesn’t return last season’s interception leader or any players

from its secondary.
