A 46-year-old Lake Charles man has been charged with two counts of simple burglary and two counts of theft under $500, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Paul J. LaBorde, 126 Kirkman St., was arrested Wednesday.

Myers said LaBorde broke into a local law office on Monday and again on Wednesday.

Myers said items taken included a television, laptop bag and portable heater.

“Deputies reviewed surveillance video from the business which captured LaBorde leaving the business on both occasions with the stolen items,” Myers said. “When questioned by detectives, LaBorde confirmed he burglarized the business and stole the items.”

Myers said LaBorde is on parole for a 2004 conviction of manslaughter in Jefferson Parish.

Judge Wilford Carter set LaBorde’s bond at $6,500.

Detective James Leubner was the lead investigator.
