LAFAYETTE (AP) — Gov. Bobby Jindal has named eight members to the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, replacing or re-appointing seven members whose terms expired and one who stepped down.

The resigning member, former governor’s office lawyer Jimmy Faircloth, was replaced by his wife, Kelly.

Jindal re-appointed Jimmie Martin Jr. of Cut Off, Jimmy Long Sr. of Natchitoches and Winfred Sibille of Sunset.

New appointees are Gary Solomon of New Orleans, replacing Reneee Lapeyrolerie; Mark Romero of New Iberia, replacing Paul Aucoin; Robert Shreve of Baton Rouge, replacing, Russell Mosely; and John Condos of Lake Charles, an at-large member replacing Louis Lambert.

The 16-member board oversees the state’s largest higher education system, with more than 93,000 students and nine universities: the University of New Orleans; Southeastern Louisiana University, University of Louisiana at Lafayette; University of Louisiana at Monroe; and Louisiana Tech University; Grambling State University; Northwestern State University; McNeese State University and Nicholls State University.

A board meeting had been scheduled for Friday, but that meeting was delayed until Jan. 11.

The governor’s decision will force the board to elect some new officers. In December, the board re-elected its existing officers with Wayne Parker of Shreveport chosen as chairman, Mosely as vice chairman and Aucoin as parliamentarian.””
