LAKE ARTHUR — Art in the Park, a free, open-air craft market sponsored by the Lake Arthur Merchants Association, will be 9

a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 in Lake Arthur Park.

“This is a great venue for local artists to display and sell their handcrafted items,” said organizer Chris Zaunbrecher, of

Green Pea Art Studio. “There’s really no place to showcase their work.”

Zaunbrecher said it is also a way for the town to show off its park.

More than two dozen vendors featuring

area artists and crafters will be on hand to showcase their talents and

sell their products,

Zaunbrecher said.

Vendors will sell and showcase original artwork, custom woodwork, jewelry, soaps, candles, wreaths, clothing, cypress knee

lamps, yard ornaments and more. There will be face painting, and area restaurants will be open.

“We just want everyone to come check us out, see all the things we have to offer and just enjoy a day out,” Zaunbrecher said.

She hopes to expand the event next year to include repurposed and vintage items, which are becoming popular in the area.

The Lake Arthur Merchants Association sponsors family-oriented events throughout the year to bring families, visitors and

shoppers to the area. Proceeds from the events are used for beautification projects throughout town.
