As a rule of thumb, it’s not good when the postgame talk in the locker room is nearly as long as the game itself.
McNeese State learned that lesson the
hard way Saturday afternoon, spending 30 minutes in the locker room
following a disappointing
57-53 loss to Lamar.
“We felt like we didn’t give the effort we needed defensively,” said coach Brooks Donald Williams. “We really didn’t stick
to our gameplan. We just kind of did our own thing. You can’t do that and win.”
Lamar (12-4, 5-1 Southland) was completely dominant on the glass all afternoon, winning the rebounding battle by a lopsided
48-31 margin. Kalis Loyd recorded a double-double with a game-high 22 points and 15 rebounds.
