LSU baseball coach gets one-year contract extension

BATON ROUGE (AP) — LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri has received a one-year contract extension from the university's Board

of Supervisors, lengthening his contract with the Tigers until 2018.

No other changes were made to Mainieri's salary, which is guaranteed to be at least $750,000 a year but can grow larger if

other post-season performance and academic benchmarks are met.

The LSU Board of Supervisors approved the contract extension Friday without objection and with no discussion. Mainieri wasn't

present for the vote.

Mainieri was hired by the university in 2006. His contract now runs until June 30, 2018.

During his time at LSU, the Tigers have made it to the College World Series three times and won the national title in 2009.
