It’s official, the holiday season is
upon us. As soon as the last bites of turkey are eaten on Thanksgiving,
people will flock
to stores in droves to begin holiday gift shopping in earnest. For
those who want to miss the rush and pick up a unique gift,
the Mistletoe and Moss Holiday Market will offer hundreds of
possibilities.
The market, hosted by the Junior League of Lake Charles, will celebrate its 20th anniversary when it opens Wednesday-Saturday,
Nov. 14-17. The market will be at the Lake Charles Civic Center and will cost $8 per person.
“We’re kicking off the holiday season
with over 75 merchants from across the country on hand selling an
incredible array of
items,” said Melanie McMullen, the Junior League’s public
relations head. “You’ll be able to get everything from jewelry,
apparel, art, home decor and specialty gifts. It’s basically like
walking down the street into several boutiques, only they’re
all in one place.”
Vendors will include A Little Bit Gaudy, Ah’ Sha Baby, Bedazzled Boutique, Classy Cowgirl Dreams, Southern Designs and The
Candle Cart.
In addition to other activities, Ladies
Night will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16. Guests will enjoy a free
glass of champagne
and hors d’oeuvres provided by Luna Bar & Grill and will be
entertained by band Beauregard’s Courtesy. Tickets are $25 per
person and can be purchased at the Civic Center before the event.
Children will be able to enjoy sweets
with Santa Claus on Saturday, Nov. 17, during Donuts with Santa at 8:30
a.m. and 10:30
a.m. or Cookies with Santa at 2 p.m. While children are sitting on
Santa’s lap and having their pictures taken, adults will
be entertained by a performance by Lake Charles Dance Academy.
Tickets are limited and can be purchased at the Civic Center
for $10 per person, with children 1 and younger admitted for free.
Operating hours will be 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday-Friday, Nov. 15-16, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.
