Economics Day Conference focuses on SW La.

The Economics Day Conference will be 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, in the conference room of the SEED Center.

The free conference will focus on innovation and the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Southwest Louisiana.

Speakers will be Jon Gregory, managing director of Innovate North State, and Doug Hall, professional innovator and best-selling


Gregory, who will talk at 8:45 a.m., is also a general partner in the new Northern California Investment Fund, a regional

angel investment fund.

One of Hall’s creative ideas — an innovation engineering curriculum that he helped develop at his alma mater at the University

of Maine — has sparked the creation of a Student Innovation Center at McNeese. His talk will be 11:15 a.m.

Panels on “Regional Support Systems and Connecting Entrepreneurs to Capital” and “Innovation as Preparation for the Talent

Pipeline” will be presented during the day.
