MONTZ (AP) — A St. John the Baptist Parish
sheriff's deputy hospitalized since an August shoot-out that killed two
other deputies
is back home in Montz.
Chief Deputy Harold Klibert said
Jason Triche returned home on Monday from a Baton Rouge hospital.
Klibert says
people lined streets to welcome him. The Sheriff's Office had
asked residents to turn out in a posting on its Facebook page.
Triche was among three deputies ambushed Aug. 16 at a trailer park where they went to investigate a shooting that had injured
another deputy. Both deputies with Triche were killed.
Deputy Michael Scott Boyington, wounded earlier Aug. 16 while working an off-duty security job, was released from a hospital
earlier.
Seven people were arrested. One is out on bond. Six remain in jail.
