DELCAMBRE (AP) — Louisiana State Police have arrested a Delcambre police officer for allegedly altering prescriptions for pain medication.

State police began an investigation of Officer Raleigh Cheramie, of Delcambre, in August after Police Chief James Broussard suspected him of changing his prescriptions.

Detectives found that the 38-year-old had allegedly altered prescriptions so that he could get more than the prescribed number of pills. Detectives found seven different occasions, between March and August, in which he allegedly changed the prescription.
