By Special to the American Press

DeRidder police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to abduct a woman Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the incident occurred around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Lucius Drive and Parkview Avenue.

The woman said she was walking her dog when she approached a tan- or gold-colored van which had its back door open and hood up. As she walked past the van, a black male with his face partially covered came from behind the hood area, tossed a white powder substance in her face, grabbed her around her throat and attempted to drag her into the vehicle. The woman broke free and ran. The suspect got into the vehicle and drove away.

The suspect is described as 5-foot-10 to 6-0 tall with a muscular build and a skin discoloration on his right rest. He was wearing a New Orleans Saints pullover hooded jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. James Halbert at 462-8911.
