DeQuincy woman indicted on attempted murder charge

A grand jury indicted a DeQuincy woman on an attempted murder charge Thursday.

The grand jury in 14th Judicial District Court returned a true bill of second-degree murder against Sugar Ray Alexander, 32, 782 Deloras Pullard Road.

The grand jury also indicted Alexander on a charge of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Authorities allege Alexander tried to kill a man on June 21. She was reportedly arrested in Beaumont, Texas.

Alexander has previously been convicted on two drug charges, in 2007 and 2012, according to the indictment.

The grand jury also indicted a Sulphur man on 12 counts of child sexual abuse.

Perry Stephen Arnold, 51, 491 Burleson Road, was indicted on 10 counts of aggravated incest and two counts of aggravated rape.

The indictment alleged that Arnold began abusing a 6-year-old in 2002 and that the abuse continued until 2008.

Arnold was arrested on six counts of aggravated incest in July.””
