Lake Charles man faces extortion, stalking charges

A 17-year-old Lake Charles man has been arrested and is facing charges of three counts of extortion, stalking, defamation and telephone harassment, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Noah Scott Hinton has been accused of sending numerous intimidating and profane text messages to a female, an ex-acquaintance, and then threatening to distribute nude videos of her if she did not do what he asked.

“During the investigation, detectives spoke with several witnesses who confirmed they received pornographic videos of the victim that were sent to them through text message and/or email,” Myers said Thursday in a news release. “Detectives confirmed these videos were recorded by Hinton without the victim’s consent during a video chat from their phones.”

Bond was set at $325,000 for Hinton, 2266 W. Raphael Square.
