Crime Roundup: Police say man put knife to child's throat during robbery

City police are looking for a man who allegedly put a knife to a child’s throat while attempting to rob a Lake Charles couple.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said the incident happened around 5:55 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Shattuck and Mill streets.

“The investigation revealed that a black male attempted to rob a couple by grabbing their 4-year-old son and holding him at knife point while demanding money,” Kraus said Friday in a news release.

The suspect has been described as a dark-skinned black male in his early 20s. He is 5-foot-6 to 5-7 with a thin build, very

short fade haircut, a thin mustache and goatee. He was wearing a powder blue hoodie with light blue jeans.
