Committee asking for new names for Cameron’s veterans wall

The Cameron Parish Veterans Wall Committee is looking for local veterans to add to Cameron’s veterans wall, which is located

in front of the parish courthouse on Smith Circle in Cameron.

Committee member and World War II

veteran C.W. “Sing” Faulk said Monday that the committee received

applications from about

10 veterans. He said the wall bears the names of nearly 3,000

veterans who either lived or worked in Cameron and who served

in all military branches, including the National Guard.

Faulk said the two granite monuments in front of the wall will have a quote inscribed on them. One will say “God gives us

freedom,” and the other will say “Veterans preserved it.”

The wall was dedicated in 1994.

For more information, call Faulk at 775-5622 or Edward Petersen at 775-5452. Applications can also be found at any Cameron

Parish library at 775-5421.
