Parish, more than 300 job seekers and 21 area businesses participated
in the final 2012 quarterly recruiting event Wednesday
at the Calcasieu
Business and Career Solutions Center in Lake Charles.
The job fair was sponsored by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, the Workforce Investment Board and the Louisiana Workforce
Commission.
“We cater to job seekers and
employers,” Stephanie Seemion, director of the Calcasieu Parish
Consortium, said after the job
fair. “Today’s job fair was a success from the perspective of the
job seekers and the employers. We had a very good turnout.”
Employers included area casinos, grocery stores and refineries. Representatives of retail stores sought seasonal help for
the holidays.
The Calcasieu Business and Career Solutions Center is at 2424 Third St. and sits along a city bus route. Seemion recommended
that job seekers use the facility and its services.
She said the center’s website is an excellent source for employment information and that job seekers should visit it and fill
out an application. The next job fair, which is free, will be Jan. 9.
