There were two homicides in Lake Charles Sunday, city police said.

The first, a possible stabbing, happened Sunday afternoon at 1700 2nd St., Apt. No. 1004. The second, a shooting, occurred

Sunday night at 3214 Louisiana Avenue.

City police were still working the homicide on Louisiana Avenue late into Sunday night.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus confirmed both homicides but no further information was released Sunday regarding the two murders.

Antwinette Davis, a neighbor who lives on Louisiana Avenue, told the American Press she heard “screaming and yelling” before hearing police sirens arriving at the scene. But Davis said she did not hear any

gunshots.

Kraus said it was the third homicide in the city of the weekend.

City police have already arrested a local man in connection with a homicide that happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Dustin Belest Pleasant, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Police found the body of a female at the intersection of Melvin and Alma lanes.

Chief Don Dixon scheduled a news conference for 3 p.m. Monday to discuss all three murders.
