Clinton police arrest student for school threats

CLINTON (AP) — Clinton police have arrested an 18-year-old Denham Springs man accused of posting threatening messages against Silliman Institute on his Twitter account.

Police Chief Fred Dunn told The Advocate Kyle Blackburn was booked on one count of terrorizing Monday.

Blackburn's bail was set at $125,000.

He is a student at Central Private School in Central.

Dunn said Blackburn got into an altercation during a Central Private-Silliman basketball game several weeks ago and subsequently was banned from going back to the Clinton campus.

The police chief said the Twitter postings included language indicating he planned to come back to Silliman and the school "had one day to get it straight."

It was unclear whether Blackburn has an attorney.
