Truck driver's body recovered from Lake Pontchartrain

METAIRIE (AP) — Authorities say the body of a truck driver, whose truck plunged from the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway into

the water, has been recovered.

The Times-Picayune reported the driver has been identified as 39-year-old Christopher Sergeant of New

Orleans.

His body was found by searchers from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Friday near the site where the truck was located

in the lake on Thursday afternoon.

Sergeant was driving a dump truck southbound Wednesday around 5 p.m. when his truck when over the guardrail into the water

around 4 1/2 miles from the Metairie end of the span.
