SCHRIEVER (AP) — A parent who picked up his daughter from school Friday driving a four-wheeler ATV has been cited with careless operation of a vehicle, Terrebonne Parish sheriff's deputies say.
The Courier reported the incident happened at Schriever Elementary School.
Deputies said school workers told them William Douglas Jones, 23, arrived at the school at dismissal time. Investigators said he argued with employees, who asked him to wait until school buses departed. But, the workers say, he and the child boarded the 4-wheeler and sped away so fast that the vehicle almost flipped over.
Sheriff's deputies located Jones later and issued a summons charging him with careless operation.
It was unclear whether Jones has an attorney.
