Two men died and a third was injured after the car they were in drove head on into a concrete barrier at the intersection
of La. 14 and the Interstate 210 East exit, authorities said.
Lake Charles Deputy Police Chief Mark Kraus said officials don’t know why the car continued through the intersection, which
has traffic signals.
“Our investigators have stated that they’re going to probably be working into late in the evening and early into the morning
to determine what took place, why the vehicle didn’t stop, why it came into the intersection,” he said.
Two of the car’s occupants died at the scene, and a third was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, Kraus said.
The northbound lanes of La. 14 were expected to be closed for several hours, he said.
Police are withholding the names of the deceased until their relatives are notified.
