A Leesville educator has been arrested by the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office after allegations he had a sexual relationship

with a student.

Kevin Jeane, 28, who served as the

boys’ basketball coach and boys’ track coach at Anacoco High School, was

booked into the

Vernon Parish Jail on Dec. 16. He was charged with one count of

prohibited sexual conduct, according to Assistant Chief Deputy

Marvin Hilton. The charge applies when educators engage in sexual

conduct with a student at his or her school of employment

who is over age 17 but less than 21.

Jeane was held and later released on $1,000 bond. Superintendent of Vernon Parish School District Jackie Self would not comment

on the charges but said Jeane has been removed.

“Effective Dec. 16, 2013, the head

boy’s basketball coach at Anacoco High School resigned employment with

the Vernon Parish

School Board,” Self said in a prepared statement. “We have an

interim coach in place to continue the successes of the boy’s

basketball program at Anacoco High School.”

Jeane had been the boy’s basketball coach for six years. The victim’s name has not been released.
