PINEVILLE (AP) — Hikers, horse riders and off-road vehicle enthusiasts have one more weekend to check out one of the Kisatchie National Forest’s most popular trails before it closes for winter maintenance and improvements.

Administrators say the 36-mile-long Sandstone Trail closes every winter. This year, it will close Monday and reopen on April 27.

The forest has 400 miles of trails. About half are dedicated to off-road and all-terrain vehicle use.
